The Little Ballerina is a captivating 9x12 oil painting that presents a striking overhead view of a ballerina. Seated gracefully with one leg extended, her fluffy white tutu contrasts sharply against the dark, shadowy background. The delicate textures of the tutu are captured with expert brushstrokes, and the dramatic lighting accentuates the ballerina's serene beauty and poised stillness. The artist's use of a dark base, combining burnt umber and paynes grey, creates a rich, deep backdrop that enhances the composition. Layers of oil paint add depth, while elements of the tutu are rendered with pigment sticks, including iridescent hues that add a subtle shimmer. The result is a sophisticated and evocative portrayal of grace and elegance.
